This Tjarsalva, or tar ointment, is composed of pine tar and lanolin.
Pine tar is known for its good and versatile skin care properties. In my experience, it’s mildly analgesic, but also astringent with small wounds. It also relieves itching and rejuvenates the skin.
Lanolin, or wool fat, is a fat that occurs naturally in wool from sheep.
It has the, in my opinion, unparalleled property of protecting and hydrating our skin while not clogging our skin pores.
Tjarsalva has a pleasant, slightly smoky smell.
Tjarsalva is, in my experience, extremely suitable for protecting skin:
- Against inclement weather conditions
- By providing extra nutrition and care to dry, damaged skin of hands and feet
- Against eczema
- It also helps me to heal small cuts and abrasions…
Use of Tjarsalva
Apply an appropriate amount to the skin and rub it in.
Pine tar and lanolin. This Tjarsalva has no added water. This makes the ioets feel more fatty but is also absorbed faster by the skin.
