The Grandpa Soap Company began in the early 1870s. Jess Hoffman makes the very first block of Grandpa’s Pine Tar Soap from his own recipe on the family farm. This farm is located in Tippecanoe (now Tipp City), Ohio.
During an era of innovation, this family recipe is praised for its restorative and cleansing benefits. While Grandpa’s Pine Tar Soap continues to earn praise and popularity, more special soaps are made for various purposes.
We have decided, for now, that we only sell the two variants that we use ourselves.
The Grandpa Soap Company prides itself on sourcing high-quality ingredients for their products. The famous Pine Tar Soap is therefore made with marsh pine tar oil made in a closed oven process and is therefore always creosote free.
