Salix Moon Apothecary

Salix Moon Apothecary, a beautiful and sustainable company run by two idealistic people. I met Louise and Max about 3 years ago at the Wilderness Gathering. There I also got acquainted with their products. And I’m still a big fan.

I myself am an avid user of their beard oil. The Huntsman is my favorite.

Natural botanical skin care and herbal creations handmade from plants and flowers, in small batches, by a moon witch. Is the description they give to their brand and products themselves.

The origins of Salix Moon Apothecary

Louise, the driving force behind these products once said:

To Forage

“In 2014 I was introduced to the wonderful world of foraging and was immediately fascinated. I was attracted to the self-sufficiency element. Because I had a limited budget with limited access to outdoor space to grow plants and herbs myself. It was great to learn about the abundance of nutrient-rich plants that grow around us.

Foraging felt like a gentle way to escape the fast modern life. To embrace a slower, more conscious life. More connected to nature, to the seasons and to our ancestors. Over time, I became increasingly fixated on the medicinal plants that grow in our hedges and wild spaces. I was fascinated by their rich history, the magical folklore, rituals and superstitions that surround them.

The more I learned, the more I felt deep respect for our plant-based allies and a strong connection with nature. I soon began experimenting with botanical mixtures and making remedies for myself and my family. I remember feeling frustrated at the time by the lack of natural and plastic-free skincare. As a result, I focused more on herbs and oils for the skin. In 2017, this organically turned into a small project I called Salix Moon Apothecary.

Salix Moon Apothecary was born out of my love and respect for the natural world and the need to connect with it and experiment with it. It was a way to get creative with nature and combine my love of herbs with my love of vintage design, botanical illustration and making drinks. With a background in graphic design, I felt compelled to make my project a brand. I find solace in making art and enjoy all the creative elements that come with the work of a pharmacist.

As Salix Moon Apothecary has grown, I often work with my partner Max. We make products together and I occasionally organize workshops and foraging walks. In the future, we hope to do more events within the community and explore creative ways to integrate nature into our daily lives to promote health, well-being and self-care.”
